The Snowy Owl by Karla

                                                          THE SNOWY OWL

The Snowy Owls live in the Arctic. The Snow Owls make their nests in the ground or the rocks or on the mounds because there are no trees in the polar regions.Sometimes they use abandoned eagles nests.

Snowy Owls have yellow eyes and black beaks. They have thick plumage and feathers on their feet, so they are well-adapted to life in the Arctic.

Adult males are white but females are white and brown. Babies are white when they are born.

Snowy Owls lay between 5 and 14 eggs. They babies are born about five weeks later.

Snowy Owl fly to Artic in summer and in the winter they fly south.

Snowy Owls are carnivores. They need to eat between seven to twelve mice or o ther prey every day. Like many other birds they swallow their prey whole.
