A DOG RACE IN ALASKA by Iñaki


On 13 th frebruary a very unusual race in run between Alaska and Canada.
"The yukon Quest". The participans: huskies and their mushers.



Special transport
"Musher" have special trucks to transport their dogs.
The dogs have separate compartments in the truck.

A difficult race
The dogs run 65 kilometres every day.
It is a  difficult race. When the dogs stop, a veterinarian examines them.

The yukon quest
The yukon quest is a sled-dog race in Alaska and Canada. The" musher" have eight to14 dogs.



They race 1,650 kilometres on snow and ice .

DOG BOOTEES
The dogs have special bootees. The bootees protect the dogs from the cold.

FOOD AND SLEEP
The dogs stop to eat and sleep three times in 24 hours. They sleep on straw.
