HOCKEY                                                                                      
The hockey game is 200 years old.


There were a lot of  games that were similar to hockey and were played in different countries.

But hokey became really popular in English public school in the 19th century.

Boys played rugby and girls played hokey.

But now boys and girls play hockey at school.

  CRICKET

In the summer boys play cricket at school.

A cricket match can last 5 days.
Cricket started in the 16th century it-s very popular in Britain but only ten countries in the word play professional cricket.

In the cricket matches there are two teams.

RUGBY



Rugby began at Rugby public school in the town of Rugby but games similar to rugby were played a very long time ago.
                                                                                 
Rugby is very popular in Britain,France,South Africa,New Zealand,Australia and ... the Basque Country


 FOOTBALL


The national  sport of  Britain is football.
People started playing football in the 1100s.
Boys kept fit thanks to football.
Public schools encouraged students to play football. It also made them competitive.
